Dr. Hammett serves as OFS's Vice Principal. She recently retired from the
Bend-LaPine School District as an elementary principal for many years. Prior to that she taught physical education, pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, and special education. Carol designed early childhood degree programs, taught classes at COCC, and is a published author. Her passion in
education is in the area of reading and writing. The research Carol conducted during her doctoral program focused on reading development in young children. Dr. Hammett loves to
share children’s literature from her personal library!
Special Programs Director
Donese Pogue has been a classroom teacher, tutor, CASA volunteer, educational bookstore owner, and a coordinator and coach for the Battle of the Books program. She has been involved in the start-up of three schools, including Oregon Family School. She has a Master's Degree, Administrator License, and is currently earning an endorsement for Special Education. Her passion is collecting books.
Laura has worked in business for many years, beginning in southern California, then in Bend since 1989. While running her family business for 30+ years, she home-educated her four children for 17 years. She began her work in charter school education in 2017. She is currently our Registrar and Office Manager. Laura looks forward to meeting and greeting you all.
Dr. Bogen has been in education for almost 30 years. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Management & Organizational Leadership and a Master of Arts in Teaching from George Fox University, a Credential in Global Career Development Facilitation from University of Oregon, and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from Oregon State University. Her roles have included being an Instructional Assistant, Program Coordinator for English-as-a-Second-Language, School-to-Work Coordinator, Spanish/ESL/ASL Teacher, Director of Alternative School, Principal, and Executive Director.
Dr. Bogen has a passion for ensuring students' needs are met through parent and community partnerships, flexible schooling formats, and support for Dyslexia and other differences. She is a nurturer by nature and wants everyone to feel safe and valued throughout their educational journeys.
Noah Reed graduated from Oregon State University with a B.S. in Sociology and focus on Computer Science. He has a passion for helping people and eventually would like to teach around the world. In his free time you will find him outside with friends, or working on various projects.
Kristin Curtis’ love and interest is in the field of learning differences. She has spent 13 years working specifically with children diagnosed with dyslexia and/or specific language disabilities. She has an M.A. from Loyola Marymount University in Reading Instruction with endorsements in Elementary/Multiple- Subjects and English to Speakers of Other Languages. Additionally, she has completed the Slingerland Introductory Comprehensive Class and is currently working to become certified in the Orton-Gillingham Approach.
